the universe provides…

On Day 4 of my back pain, I could barely move.

I thought I was doing all the right things, and yet the pain kept getting worse.

From Rebecca Campbell's Work Your Light Oracle Deck

I pulled some oracle cards on the issue and the messages pointed to setting boundaries, letting go of what no longer serves me, and taking a break from the treadmill of life (AKA be still and be present).

My first AH-HA moment of the day.

It all makes sense. I had already figured that the Universe wanted me to slow down. That’s usually the message when something abruptly puts your life on hold. But I still felt like I needed to KEEP MOVING.

Ugh. Have I learned nothing from my minimalism journey?!

are you feeling this shift?

I feel a weird bubbling up of something big underneath the surface. (Did anyone else just get that one Encanto song in their head?) Anyway, it’s exciting, even though I’m not quite sure what it’s about yet. But it gives me “new beginnings” and “#mondaymotivation” vibes.

It’s like that feeling right before you run a race. When you’re behind the line, lunged down, with your hands in front of you on the ground, and you’re just waiting for the cue to GO!

Not that I’ve ever been in a proper race, but ya know… when you’re all wound up and just ready. The only thing is that I don’t know what I’m ready for. I just know that I can’t wait, so I just need to DO.

Does that make sense?

a journal entry…

12.28.22 10:55 a.m. (and updated 01.29.22 12:47 p.m.)

Yesterday, the sun came out for what seemed like the first time in weeks. It melted most (if not all) of the snow around our house. There’s something magical about snow—watching it swirl around in the outside air… and getting excited when it actually sticks to the ground. Even though it’s one of those beautiful miracles of nature, I needed that melt yesterday.

I was never really a big fan of cold weather anyway, and even less so now in my postpartum condition.

I was tired of the grey… tired of cold… just tired. I needed the sun, and the healing energy of its warmth.

reset…

As I’m trying to figure out how to start this post, I realize that I have a lot going on in my head right now. My thoughts are scattered and nothing sounds right.

While this doesn’t sound too unusual for someone who just birthed a baby, brought a newborn home to sick siblings, is sleep-deprived and experiencing uncomfortable postpartum side effects, and riding an emotional rollercoaster… it’s still annoying.

october… (pt. one)

October was hard for me. From what I hear, I wasn’t alone.

And then there was a blood moon lunar eclipse on November 8. I don’t know about you, but I woke up with a sort of optimism that I hadn’t felt in awhile.

It was like a breath of fresh air.

Not gonna lie. I was worried there for a minute…

status update…

I’ve started a number of posts this week, but trashed them all halfway through. They couldn’t accurately capture what I’ve been feeling or experiencing lately, so I didn’t see the point in finishing them.

Sometimes, it’s okay to stop. It’s okay to cut your losses and quit wasting your time.

it’s okay to ask for help…

A stomach bug hit our household last week. Aaaand carried over into this week.

Stomach bugs suck.

I don’t know about you, but I hate vomit. It’s one of the Top 3 things I try to avoid.

But the COOLEST thing about a stomach bug is that it’s often coupled with diarrhea. BONUS.

I digress…

when your body says “enough”…

How do you know if you’re stressed? Do you feel it in your body as it’s happening? Or do you only realize it after the damage has been done?

Alternatively, are you a person with their shit together who takes preventative measures in order to combat the physical, mental, and emotional drain brought on by stress?

Or are you a little bit of Column A, B, and C?

Yeah, same. I mean, we know better, but also… life, amiright?

short weekend message…

Take it easy this weekend, friends.

It’s a tough one for many.

Be kind. Refrain from ruffling feathers.

Lay low. And give yourself grace.

Use this time for healing/recovery/self-care, or to prevent burnout/illness/overwhelm.

It’s okay to say “no.” Embrace the JOMO (joy of missing out).

Sending you all love and comfort. 🙏🏼💖💫

change up your energy…

Feeling off lately? Yeah, me too.

And it’s really weird because I felt so “in the flow” last week. Then the weekend hit and BAM—off.

I think a change up in energy is in order!

I’m always hoping that someone out there can take nuggets from these posts to help them in their own lives, but I have to admit that deciding to write about this today is also a little reminder to myself.

So… let’s do this together!
